Are you looking for simple search engine optimization (SEO) tips to give your tourism, hospitality or winery website a boost in the search engine rankings?

of course you are, but if you’re like most of us you’re time poor and need simple strategies to help.

Here are three favourite, yet simple SEO tips to help you get your website ranking higher.

1.  Regularly update & add new content to your website

While this may seem obvious, it really is the best way to improve your search rankings.

A website isn’t a set and forget proposition. Consider it always a work in progress and update it regularly.

Ways to add new content could include blogging; updating copy on your website; adding reviews, social proof and testimonials and so on.

2. Choose the right keywords

Select specific keywords and phrases that are relevant to your industry rather than generic terms and include in your copy.

No keyword stuffing though.

Specific low targeted keyword phrases will be searched less frequently. However, you are more likely to receive more targeted traffic and a higher page rankingd for these low targeted industry specific phrases.

3. Craft a Link Strategy

As a website owner – you want to create good link juice (a colloquial term referring to the power of external [inbound – links to your website & outbound links from your site to other websites] plus internal links from one page on your site to another).

To achieve a high search engine ranking, it’s important to have other quality sites linking to your site and an internal linking strategy which helps build the prominence of pages within your website.

However, of all the types of links, one-way links to your website hold the most weight with search engines. Google explains that “the best way to ensure Google finds your site, is for your pages to be linked from lots of pages on other sites. Google’s robots jump from page to page on the Web via hyperlinks, so the more sites that link to you, the more likely it is that we’ll find you quickly.”

To obtain more of these one-way quality links, creating quality content most commonly via a blog is the singular best way to motivate others to link to you.

Additionally, posting on social networking sites i.e. Facebook,  Twitter, LinkedIn etc. and linking to your site are just a few other ways you can take control of building links to your website.
