The old adage ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ or a variation thereof is reputed to have first appeared in a 1911 newspaper article discussing journalism and publicity.

100 + years on, we so know images form a potent and evocative way to market especially for our food, wine & tourism businesses.

So, how can we leverage images more effectively?

Oh, maybe a quick mention of one of our favored social platforms ~ Pinterest, is in order.

Note– we love Pinterest!

When you consider that Pinterest drives more  online sales than any other social network, that’s a pretty good reason to consider Pinterest as part of your marketing mix.

What’s more, using Pinterest is a fun and effective way to help establish credibility.

Pinterest really is the perfect social platform for Food, Wine & Tourism businesses to:

  • drive traffic to your website
  • increase your business’ exposure, and
  • ultimately acquire more sales.

The question is:

How can you use social proof within your Pinterest marketing strategy to create buzz, trust, credibility and ultimately sales?

Before you read any further, remember these tactics need to be combined with a quality image. So back to our original maxim, a picture is worth a thousand words!

Effective use of profile bio

Put simply, fill out your entire profile and include a quality picture and keyword rich text. Nothing can increase your credibility as much as a great photograph and the correct wording on Pinterest.

If you’re a Cupcake store – do you do wedding cupcakes, birthday cupcakes, special occasion, quirky and fun? Use your words carefully and remember Pinterest Profiles (business pages) are indexed by Google and other search engines so the more completely and keyword rich your profile is, the better.

Clever Presentation of Testimonials

Seeing pictures and the words of happy customers and clients can make all the difference in how people perceive your business.

Ensure that you get your clients’ and / or customers’ permission to show their image and their words, and when potential clients see the real people you’ve helped your credibility factor will go up exponentially.

Use Video

If people can see someone sing your praises they’ll love you even more. Video testimonials and upload to Pinterest.

Alternatively, if people can view your offerings in video, over and above just seeing a photograph, the trust quotient explodes most barriers – video is a truly explosive and yes it can be used on Pinterest!

Establishing credibility and building trust with your audience takes time. Strategic use of Pinterest helps establish credibility and is such a pleasing way to educate your target audience. You’ll be able to educate, entertain, amuse and even, if you dare, rouse your audience wide awake with your Pinterest boards and pins.

Let your imagination go, but do it in a focused strategic way, and before you know it you’ll be well established as an expert in your niche that is well trusted.

Until next time…..
