There has been a lot of talk on social media platforms about how to gain more fans on your Facebook Page. We posted a few quick ideas in a Facebook Note just to assist some of the business page followers that frequent the bizeez communications Facebook Page. However, it’s a great topic, so let’s expand further on it here in this blog.
The No. 1 step when undertaking any online marketing (and yes, your Facebook Business Page is a marketing tool) is to always ‘know your target audience’.
You firstly need to know who they are – demographics i.e. gender, age etc., then how they communicate online.
I’ve mentioned before the importance of understanding gender differences in communicating when using social media and I still strongly advocate that gender is an important piece of your online marketing strategy.
Facebook is the perfect vehicle for communicating with particular demographics especially women as they make up over 54% of users in Australia and are largest demographic on social media generally.
For women communication, even business communication is relationship-driven at the core. If a female subscriber or viewer trusts you, they’re more likely to listen and buy. And one way to build trust is to concentrate on that personal, one-on-one, real-time connection offered on Facebook.
It’s particularly important to think sympathetically, in order to engage and build trust with your female followers. Connect emotionally and make them identify, feel or laugh… and if you can entertain and amuse them enough they’ll click LIKE and most possibly share your Page or content.
Don’t ever forget the importance of the “relationship and connection” factor when trying to gain female followers.
Women are also more likely to respond to promotions, giveaways, discounts as engagement tools on Facebook however, I strongly advise you acquaint yourself fully with the Facebook promotions policy before you design a great big Facebook campaign. There are some very stringent rules to observe or you may find your Page deactivated.
Finally, my 5 simple tips to build and engage your Facebook Page following:
1. Always be yourself
2. Post regular quality content
3. Have a sharing/caring mentality – give and you will receive
4. Lead by example
5. Have an objective, strategy and means of measurement.
Connect strongly enough and you’ll easily succeed. Of course, everyone is unique – but statistics do seem to side with the relationship/feeling approach, when it comes to attracting, engaging and retaining female followers especially on Facebook.
Love to get your feedback and comments on this blog post. Has it helped your Facebook strategy in any way?
Until next time…..
